Once Carl's Jr. Night has passed, don't keep the graphic and announcment on the website. It looks bad. Don't keep the "Welcome Back to a New School Year" letter from the president or principal up past Halloween. It's ugly.

Set aside some time each week or each month to erase outdated things and add new ones. Put it on your calendar and stick to it. Make it a time that's reasonable for you. Don't plan to come straight home from the SSC/SGT meeting and work on the website unless those meetings really get you fired up. You need to be fresh and organized with your calendar in front of you and your president on speed dial when it's time to update.
